Encaustic paint is perhaps the most beautiful and durable paint that an artist can use. Made from beeswax and resin that can be polished to an enamel-like finish, it offers a number of possibilities for exquisite surface qualities. This is the legendary paint of the Fayum mummy portraits of the first and second centuries, yet its incredible versatility has made it a desirable painting medium in the 21st century. This comprehensive workshop, which will cover safety, equipment & materials, supports & grounds, and many popular mixed media techniques, is a great introduction for beginning students, or continuation for intermediate students.
Learn and practice fusing, scraping, layering, incising, collage, transfer, mono- printing, and a range of other encaustic techniques.
