Wood firing is a team sport. Together you will feed the fire and gradually reach cone 10. This is an
opportunity to experiment, make new friends, solidify existing relationships and take pride in your part
in the firing process. Wood firing is dirty work, so be prepared to wear breathing protection during some
parts. Your hard work will prove beneficial! Your creations will transform in the fire and yield
unexpected results that can only be achieved with this ancient technique. Some artists delight in this
magic. Come light your inner fire! Kiln and wood preparation, loading, unloading, and cleaning require
physical stamina in 5-8-hour spans. Come ready to lift, carry, vacuum, kneel, climb and scrub. You MUST
be available on all dates to enroll.

6 - Weekly Meetings; potting, decoration, kiln and wood preperation, review, & clean-up.

Firing-Saturday May 9th, 6-hours shifts ~6 am to Midnight.

Limited to 10.

Attendance on all dates is required to participate in the class firing. Please check your calendar before registration.

The glazes used are modern adaptations of ancient Asian recipes of celadon, shino, and tenmoku iron glazes, safe for use with food and beverages. It is a quietly contemplative, multi-stage process inspired by history, hard work, and the beauty of nature.
