Students will be moving at their own pace, and will be developing skills in fusing, slumping, glass casting, mold making, and cold working. The second half of the course will be devoted to creating students own self guided projects using the techniques we learned about in class. There is so much that can be done in kiln forming, such as, jewelry and plates, and even the realm of sculptural glass. Come explore the art of kiln formed glass!

  • Artist Statement

Meditative planning, constant transformations, and unforeseeable outcomes are paramount to the creation of my glass sculptures. I find myself attracted to a form at first rather than a concept. Often times I am able to find the overall context of the piece through the information given by its structure. Shapes and textures that are normally found in and on the earth inform the way I make art. Abrasive rough textures alongside smooth surfaces guide my newest series of landscapes. I use glass as a medium to be able to achieve earthly contrasting textures and to provoke certain moods through light and transparency.

I gather a substantial amount of inspiration from my own experiences and environment. I strive to create work from my own personal connections and memories in the hope that viewers will be able to connect my work to relatable or familiar forms they have encountered within their surroundings. My goal through my work is to break down and explore the fascination I have with memory, association, and nature.
