In this 3 day afternoon workshop, young creatives will work with raw wool, yarn, craft felt, and embroidery needles and thread. Students will learn the basics of wet felting, needle felting, crochet, embroidery, and character design. These basic skills will be taught through engaging projects like creating fabric from raw wool, felting a character, and in one special project, we learn about surrealism as we create food inspired fiber art. By the end of the week, students will leave with original fiber works and a new understanding of the science of felt making. Taught by Fiber Artist Hollis Hickerson, who specializes in felt making and soft sculpture.

Students can bring felting tools or crochet hooks, or yarn or wool or felt that they want to use in their projects.

All materials provided. No prior experience necessary. Please wear closed-toe shoes. Please bring lunch & snacks if you are taking morning & afternoon classes.

This course is for ages 8-11.
