Morning: Ecosystem Abstract creations in Stained Glass

Create a mosaic like stained glass window hanging using multiple pieces of colored glass chosen from bins of pre-cut smaller pieces of glass. Add glass nuggets or other small solderable shapes to create one-of-a-kind abstract window hanging. No experience is necessary, all materials are included.

Please wear natural fiber fabrics, long pants, and closed-toe shoes.

**Please bring lunch & snacks for this all day course.**

Afternoon: Ecosystem Art Experiments with Found Objects

Let's go on a hunt to find things that we can make into art! Did you know you can make drawings, paintings, or prints by combining things from around the house and nature? It's true! Artists have used found objects in artmaking for a long time, and we will check out their work and then go on a scavenger hunt to find fun materials! We will even turn those found objects into 3D sculptures, collages, and assemblages. Try new ways to look at things as art and experiment with creatively putting objects together. Go home with all kinds of art and art tools that you made from things that you found.

Students will do a scavenger hunt at home to gather materials to bring in.

This course is for youth ages 7-9.

This course is from 9am-3pm. WCC also provides an extended day option which will allow your child to stay in our care from 8:00am-9am, 3pm-5pm, or both. Pick up is flexible. Kate Egnaczak

Kate Egnaczak is a conceptual eco-artist. She grew up on a 68 farm in the Berkshires and brings that experience into her process as a maker. Her hybrid artistic approach practice is at the intersections of design thinking, sculptural methods, and anthropological fieldwork. Centering circularity as a guiding principle, Kate explores the complex interdependence of all life forms and waste. The most prominent example of this body of work is her multi-year durational exploration of the mere ponds of Elm Park in Worcester, MA. In this project, she found and collected trash and other debris from her paddle board. She considers the garbage she finds as treasured art-making materials. The materials are transformed and re-interpreted into sculptures and collages.
