Prepare to dual-wield pliers in this beginner-friendly introduction to chainmail.
Chainmail, historically used as armor, is made by linking small metal rings together to form chains and sheets in different patterns. In this workshop, students will learn the basics of chainmail construction and will work with anodized aluminum rings to create chainmail jewelry. Students can expect to design and complete at least one pair of earrings, a keychain, or more depending on individual pace.
Please be aware that making chainmail by hand involves repetitive wrist movement.
Students should bring:
Pliers will be provided during the class, but students are welcome to bring their own preferred jewelry pliers. Pliers with springs and flat, smooth jaws are ideal for chainmail work.
