During this technical workshop, students will learn the essentials for successfully electro-etching copper, brass, and even sterling silver! We will discuss preparation, safety, and different types of resists, from hand drawing to photo transfer paper. Students will go home with the knowledge to properly set up and etch in their home studio and ideas for future projects that incorporate the elector-etching process.Students should bring:With the fluctuation of precious metal costs, the materials fee for this class does NOT include sterling silver sheet.Limited available for purchase during workshop; students should pre-purchase their own sterling prior to class.Recommended size: 3x3 inch piece of, 20 gauge sterling silver sheet.

Youth Ages 14-17 may enroll in this course if they enroll with a parent/guardian. Parent/guardian must notify the registration office via email at wccregistration@worcester.edu.

Lauren Beaudoin
Lauren Anabela Beaudoin is a Salvadoran born metalsmith, craft educator and sole proprietor of Creative Dexterity. After taking her first metalsmithing class as a teen Lauren knew this was a passion she wanted to pursue. This led her to the Massachusetts College of Art and Design where she earned her BFA in metals.Working primary in sterling silver and other copper alloyed metals her designs investigate shape, depth and kinetic movement. Her latest adornment series explores color and texture through the patination process.
As a craft educator Beaudoin has taught various jewelry/metalsmithing adult and youth courses throughout Massachusetts.
