Course Description

The Carnival of Masks workshop is a one-day event in which hands on experience is combined with the discovery of technique and history. We will begin with a brief introduction to mask maker's history from around the globe, followed by a demonstration of fun and basic mask making techniques in clay. The remainder of the workshop will be spent indulging in the medium of clay to produce a unique ceramic mask of your own design, with technical insight and creative support from the faculty. This workshop is designed with multiple age groups in mind, and the exercise will be tailored to fit each person based on their abilities and needs. Registration is for both one adult and one child working as a team, or individual adults working independently. It is a great venue to spend the day learning through creating. Finished works will be dried and fired, available for pickup about two weeks after the workshop.
