Course Description

This 6-week class is intended for students who have a firm grasp on the fundamentals of working with hot glass and are ready to take their skills to the next level. First we’ll focus on becoming a more efficient glassblower: working hotter, thinner, and faster. Students will then be introduced to making parts for assembly using the garage and traditional Venetian techniques. Gaffers and assistants will both learn the necessary skills for avolios, stems, blown feet, and various ways to assemble parts. Prerequisites for this course are Glass I and Glass II or permission from the glass department head. All clear glass and some colored glass will be provided but students may want to purchase additional color depending on their projects.
