Course Description

Join us for this fast paced 2-day workshop and learn the ins and outs of small-scale casting with petrobond clay! Petrobond is a reusable molding material that provides quick results and retains intricate details. Bring in a variety of small items to cast such as plastic toys, keys and buttons or try your hand at carving simple waxes or forming and baking clay models. You'll also learn how to cast a hollow object using this ancient technique!

The materials fee includes 8oz. of ancient bronze casting grain, which should be enough for at least 2 pours/projects, but it does not included sterling silver. Extra bronze will be available for purchase during this workshop. Students can purchase De-Ox Sterling or Fine Silver casting grain from www.RioGrande.com Students that bring in their clean (no solder) sterling silver scrap metal should purchase 1 to 2 oz. of new casting grain. Cost will vary depending on project/s as well as current precious metal market price.

Pre-requisite: Jewelry 1 or Department permission required. (Please contact pfarren@worcester.edu for permission.)

Fee Breakdown:
Student Fee: $195.00
Studio Fee: $30.00
Materials Fee: $30.00
