Course Description

The heat is on this summer as students focus in on outdoor firing techniques! From Raku to Horsehair and Pit Firings, you will learn to develop new surfaces on your pots, tiles or sculpture. Raw surfaces, including terra sigillata, peel away slip, and horse hair reduction will be explored using both the Raku and Pit Kilns, while also working with a traditional pallet of metallic Raku glazes. If you love alternative surfaces, or want to try something different than typical high fire, this is the class for you! Students will be expected to actively participate in the firings. Fired works are not to be considered food safe.

A refund is given upon request in writing at least two business days prior to first class meeting. No refunds or credits are given for student absences.

When course or workshop is cancelled by the WCC, a full refund will be issued. Email wccregistration@worcester.edu
