This workshop is all about an oft overlooked, yet incredibly important aspect of metalworking: the final finish. Whether it's a flawless mirror shine or a matte finish that gives a piece a more subtle sheen the finish you apply to your work has a monumental impact. In this workshop, though instructor guided demos, you'll work with brass practice ring bands to apply a different finish to each. This process will allow you to develop skills to take a piece from a rough state to a fabulous final finish.
Pre-requisite: Jewelry 1 required.
Polishing is what instructor William does for a living, so it's a subject that he knows quite a bit about. There will be an in-depth lecture on what different buffing wheels, compounds, and polishing lathes are used for and how the industry produces flawless finishes in a time efficient manner.
The materials fee includes brass practice rings. Students are encouraged to bring in projects/jewelry to which they'd like to add a professional looking finish.
Student Fee: $90.00
Studio Fee: $10.00
