In this workshop you will learn the safety precautions and best practices involved in the use of a variety of third firing, decorative techniques to embellish your ware. From the application of water slide decals, to the best practices of applying overglazes and luster, in a safe environment and a creative manner. Hands on practice will generate six test works from each student, with the faculty guiding you through instruction and demonstration. Safe, effective firing will be discussed and students will help load an electric kiln in which their tests will be fired.
Each student should bring six glaze fired pieces or test surfaces, glazed with a glossy or shiny glaze, not to exceed five inches. The studio will provide materials, including luster and one test firing. Students should provide test works, brushes and application tools.
Finished works may be considered non-food safe.
