In this class, we will explore methods of bead making, as well as techniques used to add beads to your jewelry designs. We will make basic round metal beads, as well as other shapes. Students will explore texturing techniques, adding gold as an accent and the use of patinas to create beads that serve as a focal point in our designs. Making beads out of wire and tubing will be demonstrated. We will also use stone beads, as design elements and learn how to add beads to chain to add color to finished jewelry. Techniques demonstrated will include roll printing, keum boo, forging, riveting and the use of the lapidary saw and flat lap machine. Students should expect to make samples as well as finished pieces in this class. Prerequisite: Jewelry I or instructor's permission.
